Sella e Mosca

Sella e Mosca (Sardinia), located on the beautiful island of Sardinia, was founded in 1899 by two Piedmontese adventurers: Mr Sella (an engineer) and Mr Mosca (a lawyer) purchased land in order to establish a nursery for rootstocks of phylloxera-free baby vines. The rocky soil was worked to plant vines as well as to build a winery, worker housing, a school house, a small church and 12.5-acre nature reserve maintained for Mediterranean botanical species. Today the 1,600-acre estate is one of the largest wine estates in Europe.
